That's great! But... we really need a great winter in the Alps, not only for the coming season, but also for next summer and the glaciers... which are dying... :?

Indeed last summer the snow (ice) conditions were very bad on all European glaciers which have ski resorts open (less and less resorts are open is summer)... The glaciers were dry, grey and sad to watch: Saas Fee, Zermatt, Hintertux, Stelvio, Tignes, etc. Year after year I see the effect of global warming... :? The glaciers become smaller and smaller (especially their volume).

In my place (Grimentz-Zinal, Switzerland), I clearly see the death of the glaciers. For example, the following picture which I shot last summer shows something totally new in the glacier of Moiry (besides Grimentz barrage): in the center we see now an underlying black rock... where there was only ice for centuries!!

Global warming (average temperature increase) in the Alps is twice higher than the world average. :?

I agree! The Stelvio was closed most of August this year.
At least now they are allowed to use snow cannons on the glaciers :bravo:
