Ehm... why?!? The center is always the same: lenght of the arc divide by two. Or not?

Yes and no...

If you don't want your edge skidding after edge shifting, you must have the two parts of the sidecut between your feets parallel (if you can consider that these circle arcs are like lines).
With taper, you need set back to find these two parallel sidcuts between your feet.
