ACSS - Advanced Carving Spring System for Deeluxe
Dear riders!
The season is comming and first ACSS sets are prepared and ready to be sent!
So finally you can start your orders
In 2013/2014 season we will produce just the basic ACSS set. The price didn't change and it is still 55 euro for a shipped full taxed ACSS set for two boots. I'm sorry, it is not possible to produce colored version before the end of the year 2013.
You have a choice between the two spring sets:
WHITE SPRINGS: it is a basic spring which is the same spring as it was last years, it is perfect for a rider whose weight is in the range between 60 and 80 kg. It does not mean that lighter people can't use them but it may feel a bit too hard for them. It's the softest possible flex.
BLACK SPRINGS: it is 3 times stiffer spring, perfect for advanced or heavier riders. The flex is a bit shortened, stability at higher speed is much better. Rider's weight should not be less than 80kg.
I've tested several other stiffnesses, checked the stiffness with Northwaves and Arnaud's UPZ ACSS and finally decided to propose just the two above. 2nd set matches Northwave's springs and Arnaud's harder setup.
If you wish to buy just a spring set separately (to try the springs with your advanced technique or just because your weight has changed) I can propose you a springs set sold separately (the 4 springs).
A spring set costs 23 euro shipped and taxed in europe.
Payment is possible by a wire SEPA or SWIFT bank transfer or with a PayPal.
Please send me PM and I will give you the payment details.
Regards,
Abrax,

Below, you will find original Thread as it was last year and an instruction of the installation
Hi there,
I can propose You the well known ACSS for Deeluxe / Raichle now.
Some prototyping was made, and it has been well discussed with Arnaud, tested and finally it is a serious proposition to BTS.
The system concept is the same as we have in Head's ACSS, Northwave's springs and is now redesigned to the specific asymmetric Deeluxe shell construction. Springs diameter are small, and the overhang is minimal.
This is really easy to mount, one 5mm hole is needed and it also uses original bolts, so You can fit it in all Deeluxe/Raichle boots
Anyway to fully benefit from it, the shell mod is needed.
The price is 55 Euro shipping included.

Currently we have 2 systems. One is BTS, and the other is ACSS. The original ACSS was not put into Deeluxe shell, because the shell is asymmetric and there are different lenghts and angles, so the specific construction of spring system was needed.
BTS is nice and beautiful, but anything made on CNC will have this look.
ACSS for Deeluxe is hand made with precision, which is time consuming. 3 different prototypes were made to deal the flexible move with easy mounting and the overhang.
Now it is well tested and... has a lifetime guaranty...
The price is adequate to the system which is still much cheaper than the BTS, but with far more fluent move due to slider's 2nd axis.

I was using the modified RAB last Year... But there was no spring for the backside, so when the ideal morning surface was damaged, the real spring system was needed...
I've modified the RAB because the original one was locking the spring in foreward position... And now I can clearly see, that far more movement was needed and softer RAB springs were far too stiff...
Anyway, somewere there You can find a post which was written by Jacques and it clearly describes that even modified RAB is not really the best what You can do...

The original RAB has a very limited stroke, because of the difference of position between ankle axis and bottom pin, the system stucks !
This one contains 2 axis to avoid above problem.
See below why a 2 axis system is required : The distance between threaded rod and back of shell increase with the forward flex.

I've created a movie for You.
I weight 89kg and I find the springs strong enough to keep my weight while EC. My 68kg friend is filmed and it illustrates, that the system works as should even with her weight.

Yep, looks nice and interesting, but I guess you still have to do some modifications on the shell and tongue, cause on raichle (mine are old 324), this is also the shell itself and the tongue that are preventing a good forward flexion, and not only the RAB.
You did not have to cut some plastic parts on your Indy?
Are you coming to Zinal for ECS2011?
I guess also that the backside springs is much harder than the frontside one?

Will get my ACSS soon. I can compare it with my BTS. I will put the ACSS on my 2008/2009 Deeluxe Tracks 700 which I will use as my softer freecarve boot.Arnaud wrote:Video works fine here, using VLC player.
Great work Abrax : the flex foward looks great
Springs look much softer then yellow one from BTS. Do you know K value ? (yellow from BTS : K=25 N/mm)

`````````The shell: MOD I
By the system, I mean:,
1 -> properly mounted springs ,
2 -> and the shell mod.
So far, everybody knows how the springs work, now things begin to complicate...
The shell itself doesn't really allow for far foreward movement, which is crucial to proper EC technique. So the shell needs to be modified !
You should also know, that a backward move is also needed to allow nice and smooth carving. (This can be a subject to the MOD II, which is not really needed by now.)
Mod I means that I generally consider mods for the foreward flex, leaving backward on it's own. The backward flex in this shell is generally limited by a tongue, while foreward flex is limited by unnesessary (for ExtremeCarvers) plastic.
Below, You can find photos describing what should be done to allow easy and smooth foreward flex with ACSS for Deeluxe system.
